BIOPHILIA

Biophilia is an ongoing exploration of human interactions with natural heritage sites in the United States. Initially intended to capture beautiful landscapes, the series quickly evolved to document the consequential impacts of a changing climate on environments that have been stable for thousands of years. The alarming contrasts observed since 2008 are documented across time, comparing changes by returning to the same locations that turn the contrasts into a tangibly visual experience; they confronts the viewer with meditations on creation, energy, attachments, identity, loss, and the memories that remain. Jackson Lake in Grand Teton, Canary Springs in Yellowstone, wildfires, pine beetles, and changes to the Joshua Trees and Everglades all are captured in this sample of a larger body of work.
